This follow up to an earlier CD (Alone Together) with Brad Mehldau and Charlie Haden took place exactly one year later at the same venue, L.A.'s Jazz Bakery. Like the first release, the trio takes their time exploring each tune, whether it's the leader's opening blues or a favorite ballad like "What's New" or "Body and Soul." This stimulating set is highly recommended! ~ Ken Dryden Recorded live at the Jazz Bakery, Culver City, California on December 21 & 22, 1997. Includes liner notes by Lee Konitz. Personnel: Lee Konitz (alto saxophone); Brad Mehldau (piano). Liner Note Author: Lee Konitz. Recording information: Jazz Bakery, Culver City, CA (12/21/1997/12/22/1997). Personnel: Lee Konitz (alto saxophone); Brad Mehldau (piano); Charlie Haden (bass). Entertainment Weekly (12/24/99, p.153) - Included in EW's "Best of Jazz Albums 1999" - "...For sheer improvisation, few...come close to this live recording from 1996....simply devastating."

JazzTimes (1-2/00, pp.133,136) - "Collectors of Lee Konitz...will be pleased with this release....Lee continues to remind us of the beauty of his sound and the flowing nature of his lyrical sense..."
