The New Centurions is a 1972 crime drama film based on the novel by policeman turned author Joseph Wambaugh. It stars George C. Scott, Stacy Keach, Scott Wilson, Jane Alexander, Erik Estrada and James Sikking and was directed by Richard Fleischer.

An idealistic rookie cop joins the LAPD to make ends meet while finishing law school, and is indoctrinated by a seasoned veteran. As time goes on, he loses his ambitions and family as police work becomes his entire life.

Een sterke, episodische bewerking van ex-politieman Joseph Wambaughs roman over de belevenissen van jonge agenten in het politie-apparaat van Los Angeles; in de laatste plaats weliswaar pessimistisch van visie. Een uitstekende rolbezetting, prima acteerwerk, boeiend verteld.
