Post Description

For decades geologists have warned of Nepal’s vulnerability to a deadly earthquake, a fearsome echo of the 1934 event which claimed 17,000 lives.

At 11:56am on Saturday 25th April, a miniscule shifting of rock nine miles beneath the Earth’s surface unleashed a shockwave with the force of 20 thermonuclear weapons.

The resultant 7.9 magnitude earthquake tore through Nepal, a natural disaster which preyed on the region’s vulnerability.

This fast-turnaround documentary calls on expert interviews and seismic demonstration, first-hand testimony from those who survived the event, footage from TV crews embedded in the rescue operations in Kathmandu, and exclusive glimpses of the earth science technology of the future which hopes to help humanity cope with natural events like this.
