The reporter here is former special forces sergeant Jason Fox. Whether through guile or his aura of extreme hardness, “Foxy” manages to persuade insiders of the Mexican drugs trade to meet him to talk about their role within the all-powerful Sinaloa cartel.
The figure quoted in the programme is that the cartel has revenues of $33 billion a year; unsurprisingly, with resources like that, it appears to run rings around government and law enforcement. “From what I’ve seen Mexico won’t be winning the war on drugs any time soon,” growls Fox.
Be warned: the final scene in Acapulco is truly gruesome, as he films at a murder scene where the victim has been dismembered and beheaded.
